bleepwerks Original: Arp 2600 vs. Virus TI Snow

bleepwerks | July 29, 2010
In this experiment, I patched up a very basic Sample and Hold patch on my Arp 2600, modulating Osc 1 and 2 pitch, and also Filter Cutoff, then ran the 2600 outputs into my Virus TI Snow (which is turning out to be my favorite effects processor). On the TI Snow, I set up the Soft Knobs to control some of the parameters of the effects I called up via the Mod Matrix, namely the Ring Modulator, the Tape Delay which was set to Doppler, the Rate Reducer, Chorus and Reverb. I then tapped the tempo in with the Tap Tempo button to sync the time based parameters to the S&H of the Arp and started tweeking away.

COTK C964 Ratchet Module Test

JohnLRice | July 23, 2010
This is just a quick demo of my new Club Of The Knobs C964 'Ratchet Sequencer' module. Nothing musical to hear and the sound quality is just from the mono mic in my Nikon D300s camera. Most people probably wont like this, but I bet modular synth sequencer fans will watch it more than once! ;-)

Sample Music From Daft Punk's Tron Legacy Soundtrack (For Real)

After several fake-outs, we've finally got some real music from Daft Punk's upcoming soundtrack to Tron Legacy. The six instrumental bits are ominous, booming, and quite epic-- and they're streaming at the movie's official site (thanks to Dennis Mahoney for the tip) as well as at Seattle radio station The End in lengthier form. Tron Legacy is out December 17, and the soundtrack is expected around that time.
Check out a brand new trailer for the movie below... along with an insane video showing you how to make your own Daft Punk helmet in just 749 steps (via Vulture):

Underworld - TT (Rare)

TracksOnMars | July 05, 2010
All i know of "TT" by Underworld is that this track was played on a live broadcast (the Dirty Radio show) in Lemonworld Studios on 10-02-2005.
Unfortunately Karl and Rick during the broadcasting stopped it before its end so we have to satisfy us with only 3:55 min. I don't know if a longer version exist or if it has been trasformed in something else.
Visual is "The Light of Life" by Daihei Shibata.
More Underworld rare and unreleased tracks on my channel. Enjoy!

Andy Wig - EML/Biscuit Signals & Cycles

arthurpainter | July 20, 2010
Here are sounds from my vintage EML 200 modular synth processed both internally and externally (by the Biscuit). Its drones are morphed into a random mechanical rhythm that is further filtered, delayed, and clocked for your audio/visual edification... oh yeah! The original signal also plays throughout "naked" as one knob on the Biscuit offers.

bleepwerks Original: Inside a Patch, Virus TI Snow vs. Thingamagoop

In this video, I am using my Virus TI Snow as an effects processor, processing the output from my Thingamagoop. Just some late night, spacey, noodling really. I used Virus Control to edit the patch so you can see what effects and modulation parameters I am using throughout.

Heavy use of Tape Delay, Reverb, Frequency Shifter, Ring Modulation, Rate Reducer, Phaser, panning and Mod Matrix on the TI Snow.

This was good, goofy, wanking fun!

bleepwerks Original: Inside a Patch, Virus TI Snow

This is a video documentary of a patch I made on my Virus TI Snow. I wanted to experiment with the new Arp to Matrix feature, as it is a feature I have been wanting for some time, so I decided to document the creation of my first patch using this feature. I used Ableton Live, with a single note from the TI Snow, and drums from Ableton.

Being able to route the arpeggiator to any modulation source via the mod matrix really opens up new possibilities on the TI, and is absolutely fun, fun, fun. A cool trick was assigning the arp to modulate the Delay Send, so that certain steps in the arpeggiation get soaked with delay, this is also useful with the Reverb Send, or any other effect for that matter.

I set up the patch with only one oscillator, with pitch modulation from the arpeggiator, and then used oscillator 2 for ring modulation, but you could easily assign both oscillators, and even use different amounts.

More videos will follow, this was too much fun not to revisit.

DOEPFER A-100 with KORG MONOPOLY

AnalogAudio1 | July 16, 2010
Yesterday I bought my new modular A-100. I picked it up personally from Dieter Doepfer near Munich. We talked much about analog equipment... and I saw the prototype of the interesting new analog sequencer - the DARK TIME. Dieter Doepfer is a very nice man, who listen to users... Thank you.

Later, at home, I put the A-100 together (It was easier than I thought) and here are the first experiments... I played the Korg MonoPoly through the A-100. Mainly you hear the external signal processor, filters and the voltage controlled phaser.

I also used the Lexicon MPX500 and Roland DEP-5 fx processors.

The MFOS sequencer is driving the MFOS Ultimate.

VCO 1and VCO 2 are patched to the Expander Multi-mode filter, the band pass out is patched to the Expander signal mixer.

VCO3 and Noise are mixed on the Ultimate mixer and routed to the Ultimate low pass filter and filter output is routed to the Ultimate VCA

Ultimate AR envelope is modulating low pass filter and Ultimate VCA

Ultimate VCA is patched to the Expander Signal Mixer

LFO1 is modulating the Cutoff frequency of the Band pass filter

LFO2 is modulating the VCO3 Pulse Width

Expander Signal Mixer is routed to the Epxander VCA who is modulated by Expander ADSR. The VCA is routed to the audio output.

What the Future Sounded Like - part 2 of 3

bananimalistic | September 10, 2009
Documentary about the the people of EMS (Electronic Music Studios) a radical group of avant-garde electronic musicians who utilized technology and experimentation to compose a futuristic electronic sound-scape for the New Britain.

Comprising of pioneering electronic musicians Peter Zinovieff and Tristram Cary (famed for his work on the Dr Who series) and genius engineer David Cockerell, EMSs studio was one of the most advanced computer-music facilities in the world. EMSs great legacy is the VCS3, Britains first synthesizer and rival of the American Moog. The VCS3 changed the sounds of some of the most popular artists of this period including Brian Eno, Hawkwind and Pink Floyd.
